Why Invest in Diversity Training?

"The organizations that will become the new breed of champions in their respective fields will be those that have built diverse and inclusive environments brimming with differences that reflect the people, the markets, the skill set needs, while mirroring the communities they serve."

Debbe Kennedy, former IBM executive and renowned leadership practitioner and scholar

  • Our local communities, businesses and organizations are getting more diverse so we must understand how to effectively deal with diversity in all settings.
  • A two-year study by Accenture entitled “Global Leadership: The next Generation” (2003) argues that the ability to lead people whose backgrounds and values may be radically different from one's own requires new skills for leaders at this time in history, including thinking globally, appreciating cultural diversity, developing technological savvy, building partnerships and alliances, and sharing leadership.
  • Leadership scholar Debbe Kennedy argues that those who can apply "diversity leadership" have a huge advantage over those who cannot.  The companies and organizations that embrace diversity will lead the way in innovation.
  • With increased diversity comes a wealth of unique perspectives to draw from - increased levels of insight, wisdom and new thinking to solve problems, create new products and services, and build stronger communities.
  • Every person, in every position in a given business or organization has the potential to effect great change by becoming a skilled diversity leader.

Diversity Training

The diversity training offered by CatalystLead utilizes a participatory learning approach.  A curriculum based on a variety of academic fields, such as social psychology, intercultural studies, justice education, anthropology and sociology provides participants with the knowledge necessary to see their lives, their place of work, and the world at large in new ways. The combination of knowledge gained, self-reflection and experiential learning creates a transformation on the individual and organizational level such that both entities become more aware of the benefits of integrating diversity and inclusion into the workplace or organization.

Diversity training programs can be tailored to meet the specific needs of a company or organization:

  • Workshops range in length from a half-day (3-4 hrs) to six full-days (which can potentially be spread out over a course of several weeks).
  • Content of the workshops will be decided upon in collaboration with each client.
  • Examples of workshops offered by CatalystLead

"Without question, CatalystLead is a distinguished leader in diversity training. A distinguished conductor not only in diversity education, but in the diverse experience."
